About Doug Eng

Doug EngHi. My name is Doug Eng, a native and resident of Jacksonville, FL. My interest in photography started at Cornell University where I found the darkroom while studying Architecture and Civil Engineering. My career includes time as an engineer, software developer, and business owner.

I provide fine art images for businesses, healthcare facilities, and residences. All limited edition prints are  personally printed, signed, and professionally framed so you are assured to receive artwork of the finest archival quality. You can view my work at the Southlight Gallery, 100 N. Laura Street, in downtown Jacksonville. Southlight is an artist cooperative where I am a member. Or visit my studio nextdoor at 121 W. Forsyth.

I am also available for assignment or commission for projects. My specialties are urban and natural landscapes, architecture, and details.  The purpose of photography is to visually communicate a message. In being “your” photographer, my mission is to express your message with impact in a distinctive and graphically compelling way.  Whether it is photographing you, your services, your projects, your products, and/or your team, expect me to reveal characteristics of my subjects in unique ways to reflect your requirements.

I utilize all digital equipment and can produce and print high resolution images (up to 44″wide) at my studio. I employ the latest technology to provide the most effective image capture, post processing, and production capabilities for your project.  I do small assignments and have a flexible schedule. I turn projects around quickly and enjoy working collaboratively with others. Effective photography is your voice, let me help you use it in creative, cost-effective ways. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.

Artist Statement

My visual fascination with my surroundings, whether built or natural, comes from many years of trying to understand why things are what they are. An engineering discipline seeks to explain and rationalize the world, and to develop solutions to problems. My curiosity about forms, structures, patterns, rhythms, and textures, is a natural outgrowth of the need to find order in all things. But it is chaotic randomness that creates uniqueness and vitality. Our world is both simple and complex, structured and random, free and bound…all in a simultaneous expression of what IS. This is my realization through photography and these are the subjects of my investigations.
